Vinyl interior makes a car seem vintage. Vinyl is durable and can be easily maintained with the right cleaning products. Most people think they can use anything to clean vinyl, but regular soap or detergent can dull its shine. Follow these simple steps to keep your car's vinyl interior sheen.

Step One
First, vacuum your vehicle's interior. Be sure to remove all loose particles from and around the seats. Attach a crevice tool onto your vacuum if you have one. This tool will reach into small spaces.

Step Two
Start by spraying a good vinyl protectant like Armor All onto the top part of the seats. Wipe your way down the vinyl to avoid streaking. The protectant will prevent fading and cracking from exposure to the sun. You can also use a soft bristle brush. Spray it with protectant and place the bristles on your seats' crevice areas. Clean gently with small, back-and-forth strokes. Dry the seats in the shade to help the protectant take effect.

Step Three
Clean vinyl floor mats either with protectant spray or soap and water. With the protectant, spray the mat evenly on both sides. Allow one side to dry before spraying the other. With soap and water, lather a washcloth and wipe down the mat. Rinse off with water. Dry the mats in the shade to prevent fading.

Tips & Warnings
• Avoid using water on vinyl seats. Water can make vinyl cracks that cannot be repaired. Tools of the Trade
